Influencers face fines and jail time for social posts over Iran strikes in Duabi
- The Times Reports:

Warned they face jail for posting ‘misinformation’, content creators have been praising the autocratic regime for keeping them safe
Dubai police repeated on Tuesday that those posting rumours, misinformation, contradictions to official announcements or anything causing “public panic” during times of crisis could face two years in prison and a minimum fine of £40,000.

Radha Stirling, founder of Detained in Dubai, which assists foreign nationals who are held unfairly, said content creators in the UAE could fall foul of “vague and overarching laws”.
She said: “When people know they could face jail for what they post, it inevitably shapes what you see online.
“Anyone monetising content is required to hold the proper government-issued licence, meaning creators are regulated not just socially but legally, and the consequences of misjudging a post can be severe.”
