Safi Qurashi Appeal
Safi Qurashi Appeal
Supporters of Safi Qurashi’s appeal gathered outside the UAE embassy in London today to demonstrate. Safi Qurashi’s brother and other relatives joined the crowd to talk with media broadcasters and reporters in hope that Safi will be pardoned.
Whether Safi is pardoned or not, he remains an example of injustice. He has been sentenced to 7 years imprisonment, without even the circumstances of his crime being taken into consideration.
His support team and lawyers called for his case to be heard through a property related Court, rather than the standard law courts which is where the case belonged. We still call for the review of the legal process that has lead to Safi’s conviction. Clearly, the procedures laid down by the Rulers of the UAE were not followed and even when this has been raised by the lawyers, the evidence has been ignored.
We support Safi Qurashi and his campaign team in their endeavours to have Safi freed. We further urge the authorities in the UAE to review other cases with similar circumstances.
We thank everyone who attended in support today, including the press.
Today, the family, friends and supporters of Safi Qurashi, gathered outside the UAE Embassy in London to appeal for the release of Safi and others in similar situations.
