MS was arrested, interrogated, searched and drug tested before being imprisoned.  We ask how it was possible that MS was searched in Melbourne, Australian on departure and Dubai twice, yet still a pill fell from his belongings?  Were the first three search results incorrect or is it possible that authorities decided Mark would be their next incentive bonus?

Eventually MS was released, but only after weeks in horrendous prison conditions.  Following the release, he cancelled his trip to Italy to visit his parents and returned to Australia.

He is still recovering emotionally from his unexpected travel deviation.  It has impacted him on many levels and will take him time to heal, like most other detainees.

We hope that this case serves as a warning on foreigners that one can be imprisoned, regardless of whether that person is innocent for weeks (if you’re lucky) in Dubai.
